Paper Stocks

We can order and print on virtually any paper stock you request. Stock types are constantly changing as paper production technology evolves. It would be impossible to list all the paper stocks available to us.

The stock sizes listed are our most common sizes and there are others available to us. The thickness' listed are averages and will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Dot Gain

In all the tables below, the dot gain rating refers to:

Poor	rough stock to print on; gain if often over 30%. Usually demands printing at line screens of 133 Lines Per Inch or less to insure adequate printing.
Average	Gains about 22%- 28% at mid-tone (50%) on press
Good	Gains about 18%-24%
Excellent	Gains about 12%-20%

Uncoated Book or Text Stocks ( Includes Textured Stocks)

An uncoated stock is an average stock usually used for book production. It has an average roughness (called the "tooth" of the stock) and is a general-purpose paper and is usually the most inexpensive stock for most jobs.

Coated Book or Text Stocks

A coated stock is one that has been pre-coated with varnish during the paper making process. Because of their smooth, hard surface, glossy stocks provide the cleanest printing and a sparkly bright finish that is great for brochures and posters. The coated stocks below include matte, dull, and gloss grades and come in white only.

Uncoated Cover Stocks

Cover Stocks are used for posters, presentation folders, book covers, or anything requiring a little more fortitude.

Coated Cover Stocks

Coated cover stocks come in two types: text covers and coated cover (also called "cast-coated".) Text covers are similar to the stocks above, measured by ream weight, whereas coated covers are measured by a point thickness and come coated on one or two-sides and only in white.

Thick board stocks are important for point-of purchase displays (easels), heavy poster applications, or for a light pad backing.

**Pre die cut labels are not listed here as there are virtually thousands of configurations. We can print to any pre-die cut label configuration or have dies configured ourselves. See Die Cutting and Perforating. Special inks are required for vinyl label printing.

Sometimes paper is just not the right stuff on which to present your concept. We have successfully printed on the materials below. The Tyvec is also sold in pre-assembled 9"X12", 10"X13", 10"X15", or 12"X15.5" envelopes. If you have seen or heard of anything not listed here, e-mail us or call and we'll check into it.
